Psssst…who would like a copy of my book, Nuggets from the Heart, as a free gift? Yes I am talking about this book right here. I promise, the stories within the pages are as sweet as the cover.
Well don’t miss the “P.S. note” at the end of this post for details! But first let me share a little Nugget of love with you.
A seed. It is a small thing. Small in comparison to the fruit it can yield with proper care. One of the tiniest seeds is the mustard seed which is no bigger than the round end of a pin head. Yet from that tiny seed there is the potential to sprout a tree that can tower up to thirty feet in some instances.
“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” Matthew 13:31-32
Wow…the power of a seed!
When someone sows a seed, whether that person is a farmer with acres of land or even a back yard gardener with only a tiny plot of land, they are planting in faith that a harvest will come in time. The seeds are planted and watered with an expectation that growth will take place.
There is another kind of “seed” that can be sown but these are different from the seeds placed into soil. I call them seeds of love.
Seeds of love are not meant to be held onto. They are meant to be given out…to be scattered. These seeds are packaged within our hearts and are meant to touch another heart with love. Seeds of love may be small but the potential of growth is big. Seeds of love can come in many forms but the key point is that they must be shared. Here are just a few ways that seeds of love can be scattered.
Make a phone call today to someone who needs a bit of encouragement.
Visit a person who is lonely either in their home or even a nursing home. Heart to heart conversations can do wonders for the soul.
Do you know someone who is sick or recovering from a long illness? Let that person know you are praying on their behalf and perhaps even prepare a simple meal for them.
Perhaps this seed comes in the form of helping out a mom you know by simply offering to watch her little ones while she goes to the grocery store ALONE once in a while. Yes believe it or not, that can be a real gift to a young, tired, and sleep deprived mother!
Invite an elderly friend over to share a meal with your family. The chaos and chatter of young children at a dinner table just may be music to the ears of someone who spends countless hours alone in a home that is far too silent.
This is one of my favorites. Randomly send “thinking of you” notes to people who may come to your mind. Chances are, God put them in your thoughts because they need some hope and inspiration.
The list could go on and on. I would imagine that even as you read this, you too are thinking of some wonderful ways to scatter some of these beautiful seeds. They are simple little acts of love that can make such a difference to another person.
February is a month when many people focus on love because of Valentine’s Day which comes and goes so quickly. The truth here is that sowing seeds of love does not have to be limited to one day out of 365 other days or one month out of twelve! So let me challenge you to look for opportunities to plant some seeds of love each day. Open the package inside your heart. Now go and scatter those seeds and watch them grow!
P.S.: Guess what my friends! I have a seed of love to GIVE AWAY to one of my Nuggets readers.
It is one signed copy of my ‘Nuggets from the Heart‘ book! Here are the rules:

Sowing seeds of love! What a beautiful phrase. Never really thought of it before but yes, small deeds done from a heart of genuine love really are seeds planted to bloom and bring forth much fruit. Blessings!

Thank you Lureta. I think sometimes we all tend to overlook the small simple gestures that can make such a difference to another person. May we always keep in mind that anything done in love is never wasted. Blessings!

“When someone sows a seed…they are planting in faith that a harvest will come in time.” This resonated so much with me. Oh to have the faith… I know I get easily discouraged when I don’t see anything growing. I know God is working on my patience and endurance. Here’s to scattering more seed!
Rosie says
Leslie I agree. It is hard waiting on that little seed to grow into someting big at times! But I have learned that patience reaps rewards.:)
Thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts. Blessings!

We reap what we sow. It’s quite important to sow seeds of love in everyone around us. This will go a long way in saving a friend who needs lots of encouragement.
