Have you ever been in a place where you feel like God has forgotten you or even sees where you are at the moment? Of course you have. I have. If you are walking by faith then you have been in that “valley of isolation” at some point in your faith walk. The valley of isolation is deepened when we are enduring a tough time…sudden or chronic illness, broken relationships, lack of finances or loss of a loved one. Even in the midst of people around you who may try to help, at times the valley seems too deep and the journey out seems too long. Friends it is in those times that we must dig deep—dig very deep—to find faith again. To find faith again does not mean the problem is going to disappear immediately. To find faith again means simply that you know that you know in your “spiritual knower” that some how, some way things will be ok again. Finding faith again does not mean you know what tomorrow will bring as much as you know Who will bring you that tomorrow. Finding faith again means allowing your faith to be bigger than your fear because even though faith does not always make things easy, it will make things possible!
I have heard this song by Chris Tomlin many times but recently I really “heard” it in a fresh new way. It spoke volumes to me about a situation I had been dealing with. This faith walk, no matter what battles we face, is truly about daring to BELIEVE AGAIN! We must allow our faith to arise to a higher level and believe that God is faithful to finish what he has started in each of us. Sometime you just have to BELIEVE ON PURPOSE despite the odds! I encourage you to ponder these lyrics and ask God to help you to believe again that you will—in Jesus name—win your battles!
I Lift My Hands
(Songwriters: Christopher Tomlin; Matt Maher; Louie Giglio)
Be still, there is a healer
His love is deeper than the sea
His mercy, it is unfailing
His arms are fortress for the weak
Let faith arise
Let faith arise
I lift my hands to believe again
You are my refuge, You are my strength
As I pour out my heart
These things, I remember
You are faithful, God, forever
Be still, there is a river
That flows from Calvary’s tree
A fountain for the thirsty
Pure grace that washes over me
Let faith arise
Let faith arise
I lift my hands to believe again
You are my refuge, You are my strength
As I pour out my heart
These things, I remember
You are faithful, God, forever
Let faith arise, let faith arise
Open my eyes, open my eyes
Let faith arise, let faith arise
Open my eyes, open my eyes
And I lift my hands to believe again
You are my refuge, You are my strength
As I pour out my heart
These things, I remember
You are faithful, God
You are faithful, God, forever
Let faith arise
Let faith arise
