Prayer is simply talking to God. But don't forget to listen when he responds. Prayer reignites your passion to fulfill your God ordained purpose. Prayer is the tiny nerve that will move the mighty hand of God to work miracles. Prayer is not something we "have to" do but rather it is something we "get to" do. Prayer helps you refocus on God's promise which is greater than the problem you are praying about. Prayer can be heard in the weakest whisper or the loudest cry. How prayer is uttered is not what counts. What counts is that it is uttered! Prayer is a process as well as a privilege. Prayer is often the weakest spiritual "muscle" that is used on a daily basis. Don't be afraid to exercise it. Prayer is simple. Just talk to God and share your heart. You won't tell ... View Post
A Nugget of Patience
No matter how wonderful, great or awesome something is, you can never want it or wish it enough for someone who doesn't want it for themselves. That's ok. Keep planting. Keep loving. Keep believing. It takes an oak tree about 20 years to finally produce acorns but it only takes one tiny acorn to produce a giant oak tree. So don't mourn over the seeds that refuse to germinate and grow. Plant in faith. Tend in love. Wait with expectancy. In time the right seeds will make their way into the open tender hearts that are capable of receiving and the harvest will come. Ecclesiastes 3:1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven... ... View Post
A Nugget of Faith
Changes in life are rarely easy. Change stretches you beyond your comfort zone and requires stepping out into uncharted waters. Change requires determined focus on what YOU want out of life---not what others say you need to settle for. Change requires holding tight to a dream that seems impossible. Change will require some amount of pain and discomfort because most days it will require you to swim against the upstream current while others float passively downstream. Not everyone is willing to endure change. But only those who endure to the finish see their greatest dreams fulfilled. Remember that nothing in your life will change until the pain of where you are today exceeds the pain of getting to where you want to be tomorrow. The only person that can truly hold you back from ... View Post
ABIDE…my word for 2014
ABIDE! That’s not a word you hear every day but for me that is a word I will try to live by for the next 359 days. That is how many days are now left in 2014. You see for quite some time now as each year draws to a close, I stop to ponder what exactly I need to focus on for the following year. This is not about making all kinds of New Year’s resolutions but strangely enough the resolutions seem to naturally follow based on the word I get for the next year. Those who know me pretty well will agree that I am a planner and a doer. If something needs to get done I am not at ease until the task is completed. That is not a bad thing except all too often I find myself trying to do too many things at once. My seemingly endless list of projects sometimes fails to get shorter because of ... View Post
When God puts you on the shelf…
Without a doubt the Autumn months are my favorite of the four seasons. Maybe it is because my birthday rolls around towards the end of September. Or perhaps it is because both of my now grown children were October babies. Maybe I just like pumpkins! I don’t know the exact reason because truly I have so many. What I do know is that the magnificent display of color change during the Fall months makes my heart sing and my soul dance like no other time of the year. The crispness of cooler temperatures revives my spirit anew and I feel regenerated. Every year as the calendar flips to September I just simply cannot contain my eagerness to transform my home décor into the harvest colors of autumn. My eyes begin to search to see if maybe…just maybe…there is a hint of fall by some ... View Post
Your Spring is Coming!
March is here again! Depending on where you live this may or may not be a big deal. For me it is a reason to rejoice. Remember I am a Texas gal who got transplanted to the Chicago suburbs almost ten years ago so when the calendar flips past February, foolish or not, I began to think SPRING! One of the first signs I look for each March is that first red-breasted robin. Believe it or not I actually saw a small flock of them in my own backyard very recently. In spite of the cold they made their appearance and looked as eager as I felt for winter’s door to be closed. Seven years ago this month I was still very much in the grieving process from having just lost my mother the month before. Sipping on a cup of tea, I stood staring out my kitchen window into the backyard missing her very much. ... View Post
