It is a cold, wet and gray day in my little corner of the world right now.
—But today I saw a robin!
All the old timers here say this has indeed been one of the coldest winters they can remember for this region.
—But today I saw a robin!
Believe it or not there is actually an ever so slight dusting of snow on everything outside. Unusual sight for Tennessee. I thought I had left this weather back in Illinois!
—But today I saw a robin!
Just outside my bedroom window I see the birds of winter at their feeder devouring their morning seed. Cardinals, chickadees,
sparrows, nuthatches, juncos…each one eager for a reserved spot at which to dine and fill their bellies.
—But today I saw a robin!
Feels like the sun has gone into hiding. I have lost count of all the cloudy days.
—But today I saw a robin!
Winter has worn his welcome out. Even this hot cup of tea isn’t warming the chill in my bones and I’m longing for the warmth of a spring day.
—But today I saw a robin!
Winter can be so much more than just a season of the year.
Winter can be a difficult time…a trying time…a ” hard to get through” time. At its worst, winter can mask the promise of future better days.
Winter can be emotional…spiritual…mental. These type of winters respect few boundaries!
But the truth that underlies winter is that it cannot last forever.
Winters are subject to laws of time. Sooner or later the promise of Spring begins to emerge…perhaps slight and subtle at first…but evidence of new life never the less.
What is your “winter” today?
An illness…
A relationship…
A dream that seems to be dying…
A much needed answer…
A decision that is long overdue…
A desperate need for a change…
Whatever this winter season is for you right now, be encouraged. Do not lose hope. It will not last forever. Your “Spring” WILL come and the robin will return. It’s a promise.
So my friend do not be surprised when one of these days you look out your window and smile. It will finally be your time to say:
“TODAY I SAW A ROBIN!!!”
PS: Friends if you are in a difficult “winter” season and want someone to pray for you, it would be my privilege to do so. Just leave me a comment…details not necessary but optional…and let me know you want prayer. Be blessed!
